Be not moved

Grounded in the truth of God's unfailing love

Psalm 16:8

I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand,
I shall not be moved (Psalm 16:8 KJV).

We "see" things by an act of will, and we "know" things through the faculty of making decisions....  When our will is intently determined to believe in the truth of the Lord's loving Presence – to resolutely believe He is at our right hand – then we can rest in the knowledge that "all things work together for good" (Romans 8:28), and we can cease from the anxieties that beset daily consciousness.

However, should we overlook the Lord, should we set Him aside and rely on our own resources to meet our needs, we shall eventually find ourselves moved, shaken, and even overthrown in our supposed self-sufficiency. Yes, we will find ourselves "moved" – left alone, afraid, and in anxiety – because we have chosen to remove ourselves from the truth of what is Real.

When we consciously decide to put the Lord "before" us, when we willingly defer to Him as the true Source of our strength by regarding Him as our "right hand," we will find that we shall not be moved – despite the changes of external circumstances that befall us in this temporal world. By setting the Lord always before us, we shall live, move, and have our being securely grounded in the truth of God's unfailing love.
